Congratulations to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Lakewood Stake for 40 years of saving lives with Bonfils.
On May 18, the congregation hosted its 154th blood drive, one of four held each year, making blood donation convenient for members. Bonfils presented blood drive liaison Curtis Atkinson a plaque commemorating the occasion.
In the past 40 years, those blood drives have led to more than 6,200 donations which have had the potential to save or enhance the lives of up to 18,600 patients in need.
Several hundred organizations across Colorado host mobile blood drives each year, helping ensure Coloradans have a convenient location to give blood. Just as new blood donors are always needed to ensure a safe and steady blood supply for patients, so, too, is the need for additional blood drive hosts.
