First responders including Colorado firefighters and law enforcement officers are just our type of heroes. They save lives on the job every day. We need your help to celebrate and honor our lifesavers in uniform this July during Bonfils' first-ever Battle of the Badges.
All during July, donors who come into any Bonfils community donor center or mobile blood drive will be asked to cast their vote in honor of local fire departments or law enforcement agencies. It's a friendly competition between Team Fire and Team Law to see who can recruit the most community support to help ensure a safe and ready supply of donated blood for patients in need during an especially challenging time of year.
In addition, as a special thank you, Noodles & Company is offering all donors Pints for Pasta vouchers for $5 off a $10 order. (A play on words as blood donors give about a pint with each donation.)
Vote Tally Update (As of July 16)
Voting is taking place all across Colorado at our eight Bonfils community donor centers and mobile blood drives. Votes cast in honor of Team Fire as of July 16 are about 400 ahead of the total cast for Team Law, but you still have ample opportunities this month to make your vote count!
Don't wish to choose sides? No problem! The most important consideration is to help offset the troubling decline in blood donations during the summer months, and especially July. Blood donations tend to drop during the same time of year that fewer schools and businesses host blood drives. People are out and about which ironically is one reason blood usage can spike during that same time frame. Bonfils needs to be ready to respond to additional accidents as well as meet the needs of patients for scheduled surgeries, routine treatments and more.
When all is said and done, the team with the most votes wins bragging rights, but in the end, everyone wins as we all team up together to ensure patient needs can be met every day of the year.
Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. There are more than 170 open-to-the-public mobile blood drives to choose from in Colorado in July in addition to Bonfils' eight community donor centers.
