Samantha Mack, MD has joined the Blood Systems (BSI) family as the new Medical Director for Bonfils Blood Center and United Blood Services operations across the BSI Mountain Division, covering Colorado, Wyoming, western Nebraska and southwestern South Dakota.
Dr. Mack is providing transfusion medicine guidance to medical professionals at nearly 140 hospitals and healthcare facilities, offering medical oversight for blood donors, overseeing Bonfils’ Marrow Program and participating in research to advance patient care.
“Ensuring donor and patient safety and providing quality service and consultation to our hospital partners are our top priorities,” Mountain Division President Anne Burtchaell said. “We are excited to welcome Dr. Mack and the expertise she brings to help advance our lifesaving mission.”
Board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, pediatric pathology, and in transfusion medicine/blood banking by the American Board of Pathology, Dr. Mack spent the past three years in hospital-based private practice pathology in the Denver metro area. She earned her medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. She completed anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the University of Colorado Hospital followed by fellowships in pediatric pathology at Boston Children’s Hospital and transfusion medicine/blood banking at the University of Colorado Hospital, Children’s Hospital Colorado and Bonfils Blood Center.
