Thanks for supporting Bonfils' Battle of the Badges

Posted on 08/09/2017

Thank you to the 13,895 people who turned out to give 13,339 units of blood during Bonfils’ first-ever Battle of the Badges competition in July.
Everyone who registered to donate at a Bonfils community donor center or mobile blood drive was offered the chance to vote for Team Law or Team Fire in a friendly competition for bragging rights. The statewide ballot count between law enforcement and fire departments is official:

Team Fire: 4,541
Team Law: 3,414
Congratulations are in order all around. A big thanks to all the fire departments and law enforcement agencies in Colorado who rallied supporters to give blood. Donors who cast a ballot as well as those who chose not to take sides all teamed up to save or enhance the lives of up to 40,000 patients in need.

Donations are needed every day of the year, but meeting the need is especially difficult in July. While many are away on vacation and unavailable to give blood, the need for donations can increase due to increased accidents with so many people enjoying the summer months. Thank you to all for helping alleviate a critical shortage of blood.
