Drive For Life XII Oct. 13, 2009

Bonfils Blood Center drew nearly 2,400 fans for life
The 12th installment of Drive for Life, the state's largest single-day blood drive, collected nearly 1,100 life-saving units through pre-event and event day donations. Additionally, 40 generous individuals gave a double red cell donation and 370 potential new donors were blood typed at the event. The blood typed "donors on reserve" are eligible for an exclusive yearlong Broncos Country Donor Club membership provided they make a blood donation by Nov.13. Bonfils' Colorado Marrow Donor Program was also successful in registering 114 potential marrow donors to the Be The Match Registry.
"While this year's drive wasn't about breaking records, we are pleased to report that we met our goals and welcomed thousands fans into INVESCO Field today. Our new pre-event donation voucher system exceeded expectations with nearly 400 donors coming forward to give blood prior to Drive for Life," said Jessica Maitland, vice president of marketing and community operations for Bonfils Blood Center. "While every donation given today is important, our new double red cell donation program allowed us to bolster our O-negative blood supply as we approach the difficult winter months."
Drive for Life is presented in partnership with the Denver Broncos Football Club and generously sponsored by CBS4, The Denver Post and FM Sportsradio 104.3 The FAN.
