High School Heroes

Find the hero in you.  Donate blood.

Becoming a blood donor at an early age helps establish an ongoing commitment to save lives, not to mention it’s one of the most significant ways you can volunteer in the community.  With each blood donation you make, you have the power to save and enhance the lives of up to three patients.  If you are 16 or 17 years old with written parental/guardian consent or 18 years or older and can meet certain eligibility requirements, you can give blood.  Be sure to eat a healthy, low-fat meal and drink lots of water prior to making your blood donation.

Did you know?

Colorado law allows for 16-year-olds to give blood – with parental consent – which can account for nearly 50 donations each week and as many as 2,600 donations to Bonfils annually.  Since the inception of this initiative in Sept. 2009, we’ve collected hundreds of units from our 16-year-old donors. Donors, like Ian, can join us in becoming true high school heroes.

Be a hero to patients in need.

Show your school pride and be a hero to car accident victims, cancer patients and many others who need blood transfusions.  Participating donors will receive free stuff and can enter to win great prizes like a digital camera, PSP, Notebook PC or a 26” HDTV.

For more information about how your school can participate in a blood drive, call 303.739.4001 or 800.365.0006, opt.6.
