DETAILS/
VISUALS: Bonfils Blood Center kicks-off the holiday season with the grand opening of our new Lowry Community Donor Center. The opening coincides with the beginning of the winter season - a time when blood donations decrease up to 20 percent. Visiting the new center provides an opportunity for both our regular and first-time donors to give blood while helping to maintain the community blood supply during these difficult winter months. Blood donors and guests attending the open house will be treated to refreshments and giveaways, including a pint of ice cream from Boulder Ice Cream.
In addition, Santa will model his new Bonfils Blood Center fleece hat following his blood donation which comes just three days in advance of Bonfils' winter campaign. Individuals who give blood between Dec. 18, 2005 and Jan. 28, 2006 will receive a Bonfils fleece hat for their donation.
Along with the community donor center, most of Bonfils' administrative departments have also moved to the third floor of the Covad building. Bonfils continues to perform essential laboratory and testing functions and operates its subsidiaries from its former headquarters at 717 Yosemite Street. The move will free up much needed space to expand our manufacturing laboratories in an effort to continue to ensure there is a safe and sufficient blood supply for our community well into the future.
Bonfils Blood Center supplies blood to more than 115 healthcare facilities and needs to collect 4,350 blood donations weekly to meet the needs of the community and to be prepared for any unexpected events.
