DENVER (May 02, 2006) - Parishioners, guests and clergy at All Souls Catholic Church located in Englewood, Colo. will be honored with a “30 Years of Saving Lives” award during 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday, May 7. Vicki Palmreuter, business development representative for Bonfils Blood Center will present the award to the congregation in recognition of the Church’s 30-year commitment to the community blood supply as a blood drive host and in appreciation of their long-standing dedication to saving and enhancing lives.

Since 1975, volunteer blood donors at the All Souls Catholic Church have donated more than 4,200 units of blood at 52 blood drives to support the community blood supply which had the potential to save or enhance the lives of up to 12,000 patients in need of blood transfusions. In the last five years alone the church has collected nearly 460 units of blood and currently generously hosts two blood drives per year with an average of 50 donors participating in each drive.

Donors at the next All Souls Catholic Church blood drive which will be held Thursday, May 18 from 2 to 6:30 p.m. at 4950 South Logan Street will be treated to a celebration including cake and balloons in honor of the 30-year milestone. New and existing donors interested in participating in the blood drive should contact Betty Newell at 303.798.0855 to schedule a donation appointment.

Bonfils Blood Center supplies blood to more than 200 hospitals and healthcare facilities and needs to collect 4,350 blood donations weekly to meet the needs of the community and to be prepared for any unexpected events.
