DENVER (February 06, 2007) - Friends and family of two Berthoud High School students, Tyler Carron and Nikko Landeros, who lost their legs in a horrific auto accident last month, are again showing support by coordinating a replenishment blood drive in honor of the boys. A Bonfils bloodmobile will be parked and accepting blood donors at Berthoud High School located at 850 Spartan Avenue, Berthoud, Colo. on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Donors wishing to give blood at the drive are encouraged to make an appointment by calling 800.365.0006 ext. 2 or online at www.bonfils.org. Donors unable to attend the high school drive may support the “Tyler and Nikko Replenishment Drive” by donating in their names at any of Bonfils’ nine community donor centers across the Front Range.
Members of the Ft. Collins Sertoma Club, a club whose mission is to financially and physically support organizations that help youth and those in need, will donate $10 for every donor that participates in the Feb. 10 blood drive up to $1,000 to the Tyler and Nikko Charitable Fund.
Since entering the hospital in January, Tyler and Nikko have received more than 20 units of blood combined according to Bruce Carron, Tyler’s father. The Carron family encourages the community to support other patients by making a life-saving blood donation.
“You never know when a loved one might need blood,” said Bruce Carron. “We are eternally grateful to blood donors for helping our son and Nikko.”
In addition to supporting the Carron and Landeros families, donors who give blood between Feb. 5 and 28 will be entered to win an all-inclusive trip for two to Secrets Capri Resort in the incredible Riviera Maya, Mexico this April courtesy of CBS4. Complete contest rules and eligibility requirements can be found at www.bonfils.org.
Bonfils Blood Center supplies blood to more than 200 healthcare facilities and needs to collect 4,350 blood donations weekly to meet the needs of the community and to be prepared for any unexpected events.
