Give a Gift that Goes Straight to the Heart this Valentine’s Day
Community encouraged to support National Donor Day
DENVER (Feb. 7, 2008) – Instead of chocolates, candy or flowers, give a gift that goes straight to the heart this Valentine’s Day – otherwise known as National Donor Day – give blood. Now in its 11th year, National Donor Day was created to increase awareness of the need for life-saving donations on or around Valentine’s Day.
“Treacherous driving conditions caused by snowfall early this month has caused a decline in blood donations,” asserts Jessica Maitland, vice president of marketing and community operations. “We encourage our community to support National Donor Day and to help replenish the community blood supply by scheduling a blood donation appointment today.”
Donating blood takes less than an hour and is one of the easiest ways to give back to the community. Visit www.bonfils.org or call our appointment center at 303.363.2300 or 800.365.0006 opt. 2 to schedule an appointment at a time and location that is most convenient for you.
Bonfils Blood Center celebrates 65 years of saving lives through its ongoing stewardship of the community blood supply and the instrumental role it continues to play in the lives of patients in need throughout Colorado and beyond. Bonfils Blood Center supplies blood to more than 200 healthcare facilities and needs to collect more than 4,000 blood donations weekly to meet the needs of the community and to be prepared for any unexpected events.
